Super Easy Jam Bars

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

1 box of cake mix (any kind - I prefer yellow or chocolate or lemon) 1 stick of butter or margarine.

Mix together with a pastry blender.

Press into bottom of 9 x 13 baking pan (I spray lightly with Pam first)

Partially bake 8 - 10 minutes; barely done.

Open a jar of your favorite jam that goes with the crust bottom that you picked. Spread a thin layer on the top of warm crust then bake about 8 minutes more.

Cool a few minutes.

Frost with powdered sugar frosting made fairly thin.

(powdered sugar, flavoring, a bit of butter and cream or milk).

I drizzle it diagonally to make it look prettier.

Sprinkle with nuts (I use slivered or sliced almonds or chopped walnuts)

These are SO easy and best warm, they keep in the refrigerator a long time or the freezer for months. Try different jam colors for various holidays, etc!

Can also use small tart pans (heart, rounds, etc.) to make small or mini sized ones for special occasions.

Note: the part at the edge of the pan all around gets a little darker and chewier, so sometimes I trim that thin section off (and eat if myself, of course!) and cut the rest for presentation.
