Candy Cracker Brittle Bars Recipe
from Anitalynn Tighe, Cupertino, CA

Easy enough that kids can help!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Line a full cookie sheet with soda crackers, with salt side down.
Completely fill in the cookie sheet, breaking crackers to fit if needed.

Melt together in a sauce pan:
2 sticks of butter
2 cups packed brown sugar

Pour mixture over the crackers until all are coated evenly.

Bake 10 minutes and cool.

Melt 12 oz. of chocolate chips in microwave or sauce pan over low heat.
Spread over mixture.
Sprinkle with 1/3 cup chopped nuts (optional - walnuts, pecans, almonds work well)

Cool bars in refrigerator.
Cut into bars or break like brittle.
Freeze or refrigerate to store if you make them ahead of time.

Makes 4-5 dozen, depending on the size.

Note: To make less, use a 9 x 12 pan and cut the recipe in half, but use about almost the same amount of chocolate chips.
