Broiled Pear Appetizers

These ALWAYS get compliments!

1. Cut several pears (3-4) into slices to fill a baking dish for desired number of servings (figure 4 per slices per person). I used an apple-slicing appliance and it goes really fast.

2. Drizzle honey lightly over the pears just to cover (a modest amount)

3. Scatter fresh whole cranberries (about 1/4 cup for 4 pears) evenly over the top of the pears.

I buy them fresh and keep in freezer for baking for several months.

4. Sprinkle crumbled blue cheese over the top of the pears and cranberries (I use about 1//4-to 1/3 cup for 4 pears)

5. Sprinkle chopped pecans over everything (about 1/8 cup - more if you like more nuts)

6. Broil a few minutes until cheese is melted and browned.

7. Serve warm with toothpicks or small appetizers forks. (Yummy!)

Note: if you make it ahead of time several hours, dip pears in lemon juice to keep from browning and cover tightly in the refrigerator until ready to broil and serve.
