Strawberry Crunch
from Bonnie Milutin, San Jose, CA


With pastry blender, forks, cut in the following until crumbly:

1 c flour
3/4 c. oatmeal
1 c brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, somewhat softened

Meanwhile mix following in saucepan on stovetop:
1 c water
1 c sugar
2 Tbsp of cornstarch OR 4 Tbsp equivalent substitution of flour

Bring to boil and cook until thick

Prepare 2 cups of sliced strawberries

Put 1/2 of this mixture in 9x9 or 8x8 square greased pan, cover bottom of pan
Spread 2 cups sliced strawberries on top of the crumble
Pour about only 2/3-3/4 of the stovetop syrup over all the strawberries
Cover with the remaining crumbs

Bake 350 for 45 minutes.
Good warm or cold and/or w/ cool whip or ice cream.
